SIMONE GATTO
Contrada San Biagio - 98045 San Pier Niceto (SICILIA) (ITALY)
The Simone Gatto Company processes the best fruits coming from Calabria and Sicily, from which it obtains very high quality essential oils and juices.
The essential oils are then used in the perfumery and cosmetic industries
and also for the flavouring of alimentary products; juices are directed to the consumption market, the formulation of beverages, ice creams, etc.
Sicilian machines are utilised to process the fruit, among which the famous "Sfumatrice Machinery" that makes an essential oil very similar to that obtained 40 years ago by pressing the peel on natural sponges by hand, and also some American extractors particularly noted for the high yield and the good quality of juice obtainable.
The processing begins in September with green mandarins for the production of green and yellow oil. Then, from December production moves to bergamots, blond orange and winter crop lemon, which are of excellent quality. From February to June blood orange juice is produced.
The bergamot essential oil is treated specifically in order to eliminate the furocumarine , the photosensitive substances to allow use without any quantity limitation in the perfumery industry.
Fresh juices are manufactured and frozen or deep-frozen to keep the quality unaltered or concentrated for the utilisation in beverages.
The peel is employed for animal feeding or for raw material for the production of pectin.
