The
class of optical sensors consists of sensors that detect an object
thanks to optical principles, reflection of light, generally generated
by a red or infrared diode, sometimes green, blue or white, depending on
the color of the object and its background . The
operation can be direct reflection, reflective with reflector and
barrier, when light emitter and receiver are separated and frontal
fronts facing each other. Photosensors can also be made up of an amplifier and fiber optic, useful when there are room for installation. Another
typical operating principle of the optical sensors is the background
suppression that eliminates the influence of the background on the
detection. They are often used as pointers. Other
variants are given by the power supply that may be continuous, or by
the degree of protection that allows it to be used in difficult
environments, or from a fork-like housing, which sets the detection
distance. Instead, we speak of color sensors when multiple color emitter
diodes are used, which let you read the color of the object to be
detected and compare it with a pre-memorized color.
