From 21st to 25th January 2017 Rimini expo centre is once again hosting, along with the 38° edition of SIGEP, the biennial AB Tech Expo, which brings together the entire bakery sector, including technology, the key enterprises for Italian-made products and the leading European brands.
As well as the 3rd edition of the Bread in the City contest, the Bakery Events Area (Hall D7) will host the Young Ideas Contest, a competition addressing the young students of Italian hotel schools and training colleges, key players of the great SIGEP Young project, who will compete from Saturday 21st to Tuesday 24. Organized by SIGEP – AB Tech Expo, the contest is coordinated by Richemont Club Italia, promoted by Consorzio Sipan and has the patronage of Richemont Club International.
The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday 25th in the Bakery Events Area from 10:30 am.
There is eager expectation for the initiative connected with the Civiltà del Pane (Bread and Civilization) project. The South Foyer will host a particularly innovative venue that Cast Alimenti will dedicate to Bakery & Pastry. A demo space, with adjacent education area for training and tasting.
Around bread, a model of civilization has developed that continues to be a factor of development, nutrition and dialogue. The reason behind of the initiative organized at AB Tech Expo and SIGEP 2017 is to show the very important meaning of a food that is fundamental to man’s day-to-day life. The value of artisan bakery in particular, with its numerous local varieties, enables to express in an original way the values of European unity by means of regional “bread diversity”, as is shown by the overview of European bread by “Alex & Sylvia”, presented at Expo 2015, and the subject of a dedicated renewed competition.
The project is promoted by Centro Studi Longobardi – La civiltà del pane and AB Tech Expo – SIGEP, in collaboration with Federazione Italiana Panificatori (Italian bakers federation), Cast Alimenti, Richemont Club Italia, Consorzio SIPAN, AIBI Assitol, Italmopa and Assipan, with the patronage of the European Parliament, FAO, the Italian Ministry for Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart.
Other eagerly awaited appointments are the traditional conference promoted by Italmopa, on the topic “Flour is on everyone’s lips. How to ensure correct information for consumers” (Saturday 21st 11 am – Neri Room).
The Conference will be begin with the results of a survey commissioned by Italmopa from Doxa on the flour-bread chain and will host Marino Niola (Moderator), Elisabetta Bernardi (Nutritionist, Biologist, expert in scientific communication), Giorgio Donegani (Scientific Director and Past President, Food Education Italy – Italian Foundation for Food Education), Giuseppe Ferrandi (Bakery Sector Chief, Esselunga), Ezio Marinato (Master Baker), Sonia Peronaci (Italian chef, writer and blogger, founder of the Giallo Zafferano Web Site).
On Sunday 22nd, AIBI and Assitol will present together with SIGEP a survey on consumption and trends in the world of pastry, bakery products and pizza during the conference entitled “Bread in Italy: how consumption is changing in an AIBI survey”.
On Monday 23rd January, at 2:15 pm, the Girasole Room hosts the presentation of the new edition of the contest “The 5 seasons – New pizza parlours” and the contest “Stories of flour – New bread spaces”.
These are two new international competitions dedicated to the design of venues, pizza parlours and bakers’ shops, under the banner of innovation and tradition, design and planning and the quality of the areas dedicated to sale and consumption, in important evolving market sectors.
The contests will give awards to six venues, with prize money totalling 15,000 euros (www.premioarchitetturaefarina.it)
The two competitions are organized by Agugiaro & Figna Molini in collaboration with ARD&NT Institute (Milan Polytechnic – Brera Academy of Fine Arts).
